Method 1: Share link through your Dropbox website
Step 1: If you do not have an account with Dropbox, create one. Simply go to www.dropbox.com and click on the ‘create an account option’. You’ll find the below page open in your computer:
Step 2: Once you fill all the information such as your First Name, Last Name, E-mail id and set a password for your account, just click on ‘create an account’ and the following page will open up:
Step 3: Now choose the package you want to go with. Here are three packages available ‘Dropbox Basic’ which free, ‘Dropbox Pro’ which charges a nominal amount and ‘Dropbox for Business’ that charges a little more than the previous one.
Now according to your requirements and usages you can choose one. If you are an individual user and use the tool rarely then the free Basic one should do for you.
For more secure data transfer you can definitely go for the paid packages.
Step 4: Once you click on ‘continue’, the ‘Dropbox Installer’ will automatically start downloading on your computer. Once the download completes, open the exe file.
It may take a while depending on the speed of your internet connection. Once you open the exe file you will see the following pop-up. Now click on run to install the Dropbox folder on your computer.
Step 5: Once you click on run, the installer will start downloading the Dropbox folder in your computer. Again it may take a while depending on the speed of your internet connection:
Step 6: Once the installation is complete your browser will take you to your Dropbox home page and a Dropbox file will get downloaded automatically in your computer.
You can see the Dropbox folder in under you ‘favourites’. For ease of use, you can also move this folder to your desktop or any other location that suits you.
Step 7: Now copy the file or folder that you may want to share in your ‘Dropbox folder’. Right click on the folder option.And you can see the ‘Share Dropbox Link’ option in the dropdown menu.
Simply click on it and your folder will get uploaded in your dropbox page.
Step 8: Now you can see the files to be shared on you Dropbox page. You can just drag any other file that you may want to share in this window. And click on the ‘share’ tab.
Step 9: Once you click on share a pop up will open up asking for your recipient’s address. Just write down the mail id of the people you want to share the file with.
You can also write a message to them here and click on the send button to share your files with them.
